It had been many years since these two teams had faced each other, but many remembered how competitive the past games had been. Fortunately for Stour port they had the home advantage for this reunion.
Bloxwich came out of the blocks like a bullet from a gun, finding spaces in the Stourport defence for fun. Unfortunately for them full back Sam Hadley was playing the defensive game of his career so far, snuffing out countless chances for the visitors.
The hosts didn’t settle for the remainder of the half, and hung on to a 0-0 score-line at half time, against a confident Bloxwich team.
A stern talking to from the coach and a chance to breath, meant Stourport came out renewed after the break. The second half saw a plethora of try's including 2 converted efforts from the guests; one thanks to the skilled footwork of their fullback and the second from taking advantage of a lazy Stourport defence, playing the simple overlap.
Finally the hosts released the centre pairing of Loz Royal & Jamie Edwards, supported by wingers James Chadbourne & Rob Alonso, who made their own gaps in a tiring Bloxwich defence to complete the Stourport account.
As always, Bloxwich were a tough and relentless opposition, pushing Stourport to dig deep and earn the win.
Man of the match, as voted by the Bloxwich team, Openside flanker Phill Maddicks.
Bring on the return fixture.
